Why Homes Near Catalina State Park Choose Local Moving Help

The roads that wrap around Catalina State Park occupy a unique space where the open desert meets the Santa Catalina Mountains. Residential spots along Golder Ranch Road and out toward Oracle Road offer a distinct living experience. You will find ranch-style homes with expansive lawns. New construction sits in master-planned neighborhoods featuring desert-appropriate plants. And, perhaps most importantly, they attract homeowners who relocated to escape the hustle for more peaceful mornings, better mountain trails, and expansive mountain vistas from their back yards.

However, moving into or out of this area requires specific planning.

Here in the Catalina area, the road is often paved and sometimes it is gravel, and sometimes the driveways are sloped or otherwise hard to maneuver through. Many national moving trucks cannot make it through these roads, so it's critical to partner with a local moving company that has worked these roads extensively. Because we work these streets on a regular basis, how to safely get a large moving truck onto a sloping driveway off Edwin Road without knocking over a neighbor's mailbox or destroying the landscape in the front yard. Here are the ways in which moving around Catalina State Park differs from a typical Tucson move:

  • Because the neighborhoods are spread out, with a greater distance between properties, a local moving crew will be able to complete the job in a fraction of the time it would take the competition
  • The scorching heat and lack of shade in this area necessitate efficient, careful loading
  • Many residences are outfitted with extensive custom built-ins, and outdoor furniture can be quite heavy and delicate
  • The gated communities near Catalina State Park may require advance access arrangements to facilitate access

A local moving company recently worked with a Tucson family to downsize and move to an apartment. They were moving from their spacious, four-bedroom home on Lago del Oro Parkway in Catalina. Their home had been decorated in a contemporary style for thirty years, and included a grand piano, a pool table, and a gun safe, among other pieces. The family was in a bit of a bind and called several first-class moving companies, all of whom were unable to provide a moving quote or date. We picked up the phone the first time they called, offered them a flat-rate move that they could afford, and completed the move within a day. What we quoted them was exactly what they paid. No surprises, nothing up our sleeves.

That's why it's best to hire a local moving company that specializes in moving families within Tucson and Catalina. One crew, one truck. We also know that the turn onto Catalina State Park on weekend mornings can become backed up with traffic for miles, so we factor that into our time estimates. And if you're moving long distance out of this area, we can arrange a direct move as well, so there is no need to store your goods at a local warehouse, paying for it every day that it sits there. We offer zero-trip services, so your furniture never leaves our truck. Most moves take seven days or less.

We're locally and family-owned, and we carry full coverage insurance. We've been moving folks around the Tucson area for eight years (our movers have over 20 years of combined experience). If you call in to schedule an appointment, a person you know answers the phone, not a call center agent reading you a script.

If you live near Catalina State Park, and you're a senior, you'll likely be receiving our community discounts! (These also apply to veterans, active and retired military, first responders, healthcare workers, teachers, and college students.) This area has a high population of retired folk who chose Catalina for its tranquility and proximity to parks.

We also offer free estimates on-site, as well as over the phone. We don't charge "trip fees," and after-hours times are available when our schedule allows. (We are five-star rated on Google by homeowners who were in the exact same position you are now: stressing about moving.)

How to Get to No Hassle Movers from Catalina State Park

For Tucson residents in and around Catalina State Park, Oro Valley-bound Oracle Road is well known (many of the residents have their lives mapped out on the area around it!). It's this same road we'll be taking to get to your moving site from our office.

Here are the directions to Catalina State Park:

  • From our office, drive west on E Sunrise Dr.
  • Turn onto N Oracle Rd (AZ-77). Continue driving through and into Oro Valley.
  • Keep going north on Oracle Road, and pass the Oro Valley Marketplace, past a slight widening of Oracle (which is where Rancho Vistoso is located). You'll pass a right turn for Catalina State Park.
  • E Golder Ranch Dr and E Tangerine Rd are two of the main side streets that we use to navigate east and west off of Oracle to get to our homes.

The ride from Catalina State Park to our office typically takes 30 to 40 minutes, though this may vary based on morning and evening traffic near the Oracle/Ina intersection. During rush hours, this area can get busy. However, we schedule ahead to avoid the traffic and leave early to complete Catalina moves.

If you'd like to drive to our office, the directions are the same. You'll just need to drive south on Oracle Rd (AZ-77), turn onto E Sunrise Dr, and head right towards our office. We're located at 3430 E Sunrise Dr, in Tucson, AZ. You can see our building easily as you're coming down Sunrise.

One note: When driving around Catalina State Park, some side streets can get narrower. You may also find steep driveways in the area, or homes on gravel roads (especially near E Edwin Rd and along the foothills) that require a truck with good clearance. We always have the correct truck for the location. There are few instances when we've moved a house up a foothill street where we don't know exactly how to park so the truck is not blocking the next-door mailbox.

However, one thing that truly makes a difference is when you give us a call, you talk to a person, not a call center. Not someone selling your move to the lowest bidder. We talk to real movers who have years of experience moving in the Catalina and Oro Valley area, and who will give you a flat-rate quote on the phone. It is the price we quote is the price you pay. There is not a trip-up fee to bring us to Catalina.

During the summer, move day in the Catalina area can feel very different. In the heat of the desert, temperatures can reach over 110-degrees in midday when it's near the park. This is why we schedule early morning start times so furniture doesn't become heated when it's on the back of a truck. Our team is accustomed to the heat in this part of Oracle and they are always ready with water and know how to work in such temperatures.

Also, we offer free estimates both in person and online. If you'd prefer to have our movers walk through your home at the park and give an estimate before the actual moving day, we'll do that at no cost or obligation.

We also offer community discounts for those in the Catalina area, including seniors, military, veterans, police, teachers, and students. Just ask when you call.

Get your move scheduled today by giving us a call at (928) 832-6683 or by requesting a free estimate online. It's our job to get your family one crew, one truck, one day.

Types of Homes That Dictate Our Moving Strategy

Catalina is located on the border of where the desert floor begins to rise to the Santa Catalina Mountains. Because of this, there are a variety of homes you'll find throughout Catalina. There's older ranch-style homes with big lots on the Oracle side of Catalina, newer stucco homes in subdivisions on Golder Ranch side of Catalina, and manufactured homes spread out across the desert. Each of these homes requires a slightly different strategy on move day.

In Catalina, most of the homes are single-story ranches. With the longer hallways and the shorter, narrower doorways (built in an earlier day) that many of the homes have, items that easily fit in through a doorway during installation can prove difficult when moving back out. It happens with us frequently, the tight corners within a house where we need to determine the perfect way to guide a couch or love seat through a 30-inch doorway without damaging any walls.

Here are some common scenarios we encounter in Catalina:

  • Single-story ranch homes, some without a garage, just a carport, which means moving furniture from the house to the truck during an Arizona afternoon.
  • Manufactured homes and mobile homes within Catalina on the Oracle side with small hallways, and fragile drywall that need careful handling.
  • Brand-new two-story stucco houses located in subdivisions off Golder Ranch Road featuring bedrooms on the second floor and compact staircases.
  • Houses perched on steep desert lots with narrow driveways, which can't accommodate a large moving truck, requiring us to strategically plan for the long carrying distance.

Don't forget the heat. It's a big factor here.

Catalina isn't known for its tree-lined, mid-Tucson-style streets. When it is July, 110 degrees, and you've got to make that trek on the gravel driveway, that is a lot of direct exposure. That's why we schedule morning moves when we can. Not only are your possessions spared direct sunlight, and our guys better prepared to stay hydrated, but moving a household in the summer also goes more quickly than in the winter.

You'll find a lot of seniors and longtime Catalina residents here, which means your furniture can be heavy and substantial, including real wood dressers, gun safes bolted to the floor in the closet, and a pool or hot tub out on a patio back behind the home. We're used to moving these types of items and we always bring our heavy duty dollies, furniture covers, and straps rated for extra heavy furniture.

But it's not just the heavy duty stuff. A Catalina house also tends to have a lot of extra stuff: a well-stocked workshop in the garage, seasonal decorations in a shed in the backyard, or an older patio set with furniture legs buried halfway into the gravel. We have moved all these things, so you won't need to tell us that's part of the move.

For those living in manufactured homes near the Oracle Road corridor, it's important that your interior walls are not damaged, because the walls are thinner in a manufactured home than a standard house. We use corner protectors and cover walls during the move.

As one of the most frequently used areas for the company, the neighborhood streets. Which streets have low-hanging mesquite tree branches to navigate? Which subdivisions have HOA regulations for driveway parking? That's something out of town movers can't quote without seeing. Neighbors in nearby SaddleBrooke deal with similar realities.

All of those local details factor into your move, including the tight spaces and narrow doorways, the long carrying distances and the desert heat and early start time. The quote we give you is what you pay, nothing else.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Catalina in Tucson

How long does it take your crew to reach homes near Catalina State Park?

It usually takes our crew 30 to 40 minutes to reach the Catalina State Park area from our Tucson office. We drive north on Oracle Road and use Golder Ranch Road or Tangerine Road to reach your street. Traffic near the Oracle and Ina intersection can slow things down, so we build extra time into our schedule for your move day.

Why do gravel roads near Catalina State Park cause moving problems?

Gravel roads near E Edwin Road and the foothills near Catalina State Park need a truck with good ground clearance. Many national moving trucks can't handle these roads or sloped driveways without getting stuck or damaging landscaping. We use trucks suited to these conditions so your move goes smoothly without mailbox mishaps or torn-up yards.

Do gated communities near Catalina State Park need special scheduling?

Yes, gated communities near Catalina State Park often require advance access arrangements before move day. We also plan around weekend morning traffic backups at the Catalina State Park turnoff, since it can back up for miles. Letting us know your gate code or guest policy ahead of time keeps your move on schedule.
